The reverse side of the packet with the King's seal set in wax to insure the safety of the mail contain'd within.
Into my hand has been giv'n a packet of mail to be deliver'd to Fort Loudoun upon my return to the land along the Tenasee River. It bears the King's cypher on the front and a heavy red wax seal set into the twine on the back. Other than a bit of dirt and wear on the canvas packet, it appears to be in right good condition. The packet itself is thick, about two inches, and it is heavy.
I do not know when the last time a mail packet entered into the fort, so I suspect that it will be eagerly received by the men. It looks to have come a great distance, and I will perform my duty for King and country and carry it this week's end on the final portion of its journey.
