2011 Schedule

I have begun to finalize my schedule for the coming year and have made adjustments to the SCHEDULE page accordingly. The 2011 event season is rapidly approaching! Now is the perfect time to book the 1780/1812 Doctor to demonstrate at your events while there are still great booking opportunities!

What can the Doctor bring to your event? Have a look for yourself:

Medical presentation
(a 45 minute presentation followed by a 15 minute Q&A session)

An educational first person presentation for kids and adults alike that demonstrates and explains common surgical techniques of the day. Topics include bleeding, dentistry, musket ball removal, amputation, even cranial surgery.

Dramatic presentation
(an hour long, first person performance)
An entertaining and educational first person account of life in the Regency era told by the Doctor himself. The story of ‘the Doctor in mourning' is ‘Master and Commander' meets Jane Austen: One part adventure story, one part love story. Discover the true job of a sea surgeon aboard an English ship of the line during the Napoleonic Wars, and the perils of marrying for true love instead of wealth and status.

Full Day rate
(for school or event, four one-hour long presentations)

The most economical way to custom build a day's worth of education and entertainment for your guests. You may want three medical presentations for students during the day, then a dramatic presentation for the adults that afternoon. The ‘Full Day rate' gives you the freedom to mix and match four separate hour-long presentations.

And between performances, The Doctor's first person characterization continues, whether he is attending to the public or walking about and interacting with other interpreters.

A Redesign'd Journal

My recent design-lust has seen me adjust and tinker with the look of my various journals of late. But after due consideration, I have decided NOT to tinker with this journal you currently read, but instead to redesign the Regency Doctor's Journal. I am quite pleased overall.

Tho' I had originally given up writing in the aforemention'd journal, I believe it may be time for me to give it a second go as a 'First-Person only' account of the Regency Doctor's adventures. Have a look won't you?

Movie Sneak Preview Images

There was held at the Fall of the Ohio center last Thursday, a dinner and sneak preview of the Lewis & Clark movie that I took part in a while back. We had a meal and cake (disturbing pictures below), followed by a slide show and a two minute 'trailer' of the footage from the shoot.

Posing with the "Lewis & Clark" cake. I cannot explain what a surreal experience it is to see your own face on a cake that will be consumed by the public.

The experience gets weirder when I am asked to cut the cake. On another freakish note... mine was the ONLY face that was eaten... they even spared the dog!
